I can understand someone reading the first 50 or even 100 or even 500 pages and wanting to give up. Don't. The finale is worth the investment. Not so much "mind-blowing" as "mind-expanding". Even the main characters are left wondering "did what I just think happen, really happen"? There's even a very touching romantic sub-sub-sub plot.
