And the bright colors is the key aspect, when it comes to ebooks and emags.
The existing eink approach to color seems incapable of saturated colors; everything comes out faded and low contrast.
There are entire categories of books that can't be properly rendered on eink so the choice is between rendering them on LCD (with its attendant power and weight issues) or not at all.
Hence the desire for an alternative to both eink and LCD for dedicated reading devices.
