I think ads get placed based on key words in the thread. Maybe someone slammed "Battlefield Earth" and it sent the ad based on that. (We know it wasn't for good reviews of "BE" because there aren't any...)
For a while there, I always seemed to have Hilary Clinton smiling at me from the ads. Now it's usually for e-books and cell phones.
