Even though I agree with you, there are some nice Kobo specific plugins for calibre. For example: the Kobo Utilities allows you to customize your home screen by disabling unwanted tiles. It also allows you to clean-up the database and fix-up the cover. (Plus a lot of other stuff that I haven't played with.) The KoboTouchExtended plug-in creates kePubs out of ePubs, which allows you to access some extra features.
