I was also planning to do this, because I find the included annotation support ridiculously lacking. There isn't even the simplest functionality as adding a page into a PDF for annotation. The scribble applications isn't much better with the cumbersome method how one has to change between pen and eraser and different line types. Let alone there is only black and white...

Xournal (which you can install in Obuntu, I take it) has all this and much more, and it's open source.

Hopefully annotation support will be much better on the M96 since it will use Android.
