I don't know, it probably doesn't matter (the Cybook renders both fine, anyway). Is there a way to see the actual content in a mobipocket file without converting it to HTML?

Personally, I think keeping the </p> is cleaner and easier to parse if needed. Here, at the bottom, there is an example of <p>...</p>.
