Unfortunately, there's probably nothing you can do.
I was in the same situation.
My unit was out of warranty, and it appears that your unit is also out of warranty.
I gave mine to my sister. I was actually contemplating throwing it away, since I also lavish TLC on my electronics and couldn't bear the thought of any kind of cosmetic defect.
