And this today on Facebook from Kobo - the firware upgrade to the original seems to be moving further and further out.....

"Thanks for your feedback. Our firmware upgrade for 1st generation Kobo eReaders is on it's way in the coming weeks. As the firmware is closer to release, we will be updating our facebook page.
