How to handle Mobi files

I've only previously used Calibre to handle ePub files, but now, having just got a Kindle 3, I'm starting to use it for Mobi files too.

I've encountered one slight irritation, and that's that Mobi files can have either a ".mobi" or a ".prc" extension. I have my preferred output format in Calibre set to "Mobi", but many of my Mobipocket files actually have a ".prc" extension, so when I use the "Save Only Mobi format to disk" Calibre says "I can't find a Mobi file to save".

Is there any way to tell Calibre "these PRC files really are Mobi files", or should I rename all my ".prc" file to ".mobi" before adding them to Calibre?
