Does the book metadata have this?:
Author: Cooper, James Fenimore
Author Sort: Fenimore, Cooper, James
That would be the only way it would sort it with the F's, and the solution is to write the right Author Sort: "Cooper, James Fenimore" (and you could change Author, if you wish, which you probably don't, to "James Fenimore Cooper").
