I was under the impression that Mobipocket had an agreement with their dealers not to compete with them on prices which is why the prices at mobipocket.com are so high. If Amazon, being the owner of Mobipocket, started actually selling .mobi books that could be read on all the same devices and with the Mobipocket reader software, would they be violating that agreement if they sold them at Kindle book prices?
