ubuntu hardy problem with binary install `Illegal instruction`

I like the sound of calibre. I use ubuntu hardy, from the forums it sounds like the binary install is the way to go.

Below is what happen:

~/Calibre$ sudo python -c "import urllib2; exec urllib2.urlopen('http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/download_linux_binary_installer').read(); main()"

Enter the installation directory for calibre (Its contents will be deleted!)[/opt/calibre]:

Downloading calibre...
...
Extracting application files...
Illegal instruction

OK I am on dailup so donīt usually bother with updates, but figured it might help here. So I applied all updates to packages `python*` & `linux*`. And try calibre again (not the download, just the command)

~/Calibre$ /opt/calibre/calibre
Illegal instruction

As you can see no change. Any help much appreciated
