Writings about 19th Century Japan (PD)

I haven't read these, though I have read some of Lafcadio Hearn's short works about New Orleans. He spent 10 years living in and writing about New Orleans but what he is famous for is writing about Japan. I have Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan on my to-read list.

Here he is on Gutenberg. Chita: A Memory of Last Island is a fictionalized version of a hurricane that wiped out a Louisiana barrier island used as a summer resort long before we named hurricanes. It is on my to-read as well.

Here he is on feedbooks but they only have "Glimpses." You can, however check out his brief bio on there. Interesting guy.
