Right. There is nothing wrong with absence of private repo support in free account on Github, opensource is cool, but, anyway, Bitbucket FTW!

Well, developers will know about Aeris' project straight from this forum, so wider userbase of Github doesn't matter for awareness. And Bitbucket supports login with Github account, so there will be no need for second account for Github users.

As for various OS support: Bitbucket promotes and develops http://www.sourcetreeapp.com for Win/Mac and some nice person wrote Bitbeaker for Android.

As for Linux, console clients are just what you need (maybe with Emacs/Magit or Vim/Fugitive), right?
