Sigmund Freud (* 6. Mai 1856 in Freiberg, Mähren, tschechisch Příbor; † 23. September 1939 in London), ursprünglich Sigismund Schlomo Freud, war ein bedeutender österreichischer Arzt, Tiefenpsychologe und Religionskritiker, der als Begründer der Psychoanalyse weltweite Bekanntheit erlangte. Freud gilt als einer der einflussreichsten Denker des 20. Jahrhunderts; seine Theorien und Methoden werden noch immer kontrovers diskutiert.
