They agreed to Amazon storing the data, not
using it. Amazon need to inform everyone who changed this setting before they started using the data (assuming this is explicitly spelled out on the opt-in page, if it's not then they need to do it with all even now) and seek their explicit permission.
Or they're just pulling a Facebook.
