. (Although, technically, IIRC, there is a 'composite' Linux gadget driver, which can handle (all? some, at least) the different gadgets concurrently. I don't think anyone ever bothered porting it & implementing this on a Kindle, though).
But, like twobob said, there are a wide range of tricks available to somewhat transparently access it as a proper volume while in usbnet mode. sshfs on Linux, for example

And, yeah, OpenSSH/dropbear pretty much just sits there mostly doing nothing, so, no worry on the power drain there
