He used simple sampling technique. Not too bad.
One question would be did he take the total for those stores, relate it to the grand total sold last year last year, and then factor in the increase of stores in the last year.
Just assuming from what is said above that he didn't count the increase of stores overall, he should have gotten a higher number than 8 Mil.
