You might consider Andron FreeFont or Cardo, though in my opinion neither is particularly good looking on an e-reader screen.

Unfortunately free, good, and complete e-reader-friendly serif faces are few and far in-between. I made a post in the Sony 505 forum about serif faces, but didn't really cover any ground on the free front that isn't covered here.
