If I were doing it, I'd simply cut off the bottom right side of the image to avoid the problem entirely. You'll only be cutting off part of the cannon, which isn't important to the image or the text and anyone will still tell it's a cannon.
If you do get it look correct on some readers, I think mrmikel is right in that it probably will not show correctly on other devices. So I'd go for avoiding the problem entirely with cropping the image.
