The one program you need to convert a pdf file to a Kindle-readable pdf file, is Universal Document Converter: http://www.print-driver.com/download/

This program makes a pdf file with image "scans" from the original. Select print... and then "Preferences" and configure the image quality (select a grey-scale or black-white option), output folder etc.
Please mind that each page will have a size of 0.1-0.7 MB and that it will not be possible to search or make notes in the book.
Test-print a page before printing the whole book to check the quality.
