I've gotten some pretty good results lately from the conversion process, as long a it's a pure text file. The result is still a file that doesn't have the author name properly encoded, so it doesn't get sorted by the author name.
That's inconvenient, so I'm staying with converting it myself with MobiCreator to make sure the metadata is correct.
