Oddly enough, given my prejudice against looooong books, I have read LOTR twice (but then it really is 3 fairly long books) and The Stand. Enjoyed them both immensely.

But I will not even try to read the last few Neal Stephenson books (even though Snow Crash is a desert Island book for me).

I am too afraid of that much commitment.
