"Et in terra pax" wurde ursprünglich als Beitrag zu Kürschners großem China-Band (erschienen 1901) geschrieben. Später wurde der Text von May selbst erweitert und als Band 30 unter dem Titel "Und Friede auf Erden!" in die "Gesammelte Reiseerzählungen" aufgenommen.
