In theory, ScreenDim's upper slider should use no power at all (well, except for the little bit of memory that is being used)--it should save batteries, in fact. So if the lower slider is set to 100%, no battery usage should occur.
The lower slider will use some power whenever things are drawn on the screen, but on well-designed devices with hardware acceleration, this should be very little. And it shouldn't use batteries when the screen display isn't changing.
