It was the sound of the wind, not thunder, that frightened the cats - as well as the sound of stuff falling onto the roof. We had no thunder or lightning - only booming straight line winds and torrential rains. It got so bad that the 2 older cats actually shared a pillow for hours! [Usually the eldest cat pushes the younger one off]
