Tested and worked on REB 1200 (firmware v4.1 and v4.2)
Features:
- REB 1200 is set with the auto-connect time (wake-up time!)
- the accuracy of clock rate is highly suspect. Clock may lag up to 10 minutes!
- two sound sources: Dynamic loudspeaker and the mechanical relay
How to get your REB 1200 to act like a quasi-alarm clock
1) Set the Current local time (Settings/Time). May lag up to 10 minutes in 24 hours, so clock rate accuracy is very poor.
2) Go to Settings/Network Connection/Phone Connection and
a) In 'My current location', checkmark 'Use custom ISP' and in the 'Phone number' field, enter any 20 digit number.
b) In 'My current location uses the dialing prefix below", and in the 'Custom' field, again enter any 20 digit number.
c) Remove any checkmark in 'Wait for dialtone before dialing'.
Now the 20 digit number will determine the 'melody' you hear. For loud irritating sounds, checkmark 'Tone dial'; otherwise for softer sounds, remove the checkmark for a 'pulse' sound.
Try googling for famous tunes (in phone numbers) and share the better ones here!
3) Select loudness of sounds (Settings/eBook Settings) by selecting 'Sound level' loud and 'Modem sound level' loud.
4) Now go to Settings/Auto-connect, checkmark 'Auto-connect' and set the time to wake-up at
5) All done. Shut off the REB 1200 by selecting 'sleep'
In the morning, at the preset time, you will hear pleasant (or not) waking sounds coming from your REB 1200.
By the way, the cover can be closed or left open without any interference.
Enjoy!
