While I am copying my file from my SD card to my harddisk before reformatting, I'll answer your Q: if I eject, the device does not show anymore on calibre, BUT is still there in my Windows explorer. If i then try to eject it, I get the message that the volume is being used (by calibre, I suppose) and cannot be safely ejected.
As soon as my books are saved, I'll try to reformat the card and will keep you informed on the result.
