As you possibly know, LiPo batteries such as those used by iRex DR1000 (and 800) are said to be best long-term stored at 40% charge capacity. However, this 'long-term storage' policy assumes no power drainage from the battery. Unfortunately, this is not the case with iRex readers, especially the DR1000.

Now, this may not be a concern for those who use a single reader all the time, without resting for long periods, but I happen to have more than I will normally use at once, so many of mine will actually spend a great deal of time awaiting use or replacing a worn-out unit and I wonder if I'd be better off taking out the batteries and keeping them apart.

Any ideas?

This should be of interest as well, of course, to those who acquire second one units, for they should know what to expect from their batteries depending on the storage conditions.
