Scribble on non-PDF?

Hi folks,

I know scribble on PDF is supposed to be out in the next release. But my question is (not having one of these nifty devices yet) can you scribble notes on non-PDF files? e.g. if I get an HTML or RTF formatted book, can I scribble notes on that? Would the notes be stored as a separate object, i.e. an annotation, as opposed to modifying the original?

Thanks,
