I use it:
To keep track of my books by genre, read or unread status, authors, series, publisher, date of publications, date I acquired the book, . . .
To backup my ebooks (by putting my Calibre folder in Dropbox)
To find new books to read, at the best price
To see what I have read in the last month, year
To convert books to another format
I'm sure I have left out a lot. I just know I couldn't live without it.
