The Great Stone Face And Other Tales Of The White Mountains
Four Hawthorne stories that take place in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The Great Stone Face is better known as the Old Man of the Mountain and appeared on the New Hampshire quarter before it collapsed in 2003.
I read this story in elementary school and wanted to re-read it.
Quote:
As the years pass and his small village grows, Ethan watches for the fulfillment of the prophecy that someone born looking like the Great Stone Face up on the mountain will be the greatest, noblest person of his time.
