Even if they did, I suspect it would cause quite a havoc with developers. With known and fixed screen dimensions, I would expect quite a few people to have hardcoded values and static images to account only for the small subset of sizes available on ios. Things broke with the iphone5, and they'd probably break again on a new resolution.
