Blasco Ibáñez, Vicente: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, v1 5 Aug 2008

Vicente Blasco Ibanez wrote Spanish realist novels and was also a director and screenwriter. He is best known for his novel The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ((Los Cuatro Jinettes del Apocalipsis). Set in Europe during World War I a young South American artist in search of himself is living in Paris. He becomes involved in the fight to defeat the Germans. The descriptions of the various locals are excellent. Vicente Blasco Ibanez's insights into the mood in prewar Germany and of France during the war are a fascinating look at an important time in European history.
