I've cross-compiled Ruby 1.8 over to the iLiad. For those who don't know Ruby:

Installer is attached, it puts ruby into /usr/local/. It's an ipkg package, so if you want to remove it, ssh to your iLiad and do a
ipkg remove ruby1.8
