OK, maybe its a long shot. Many people transfer in Japan when flying to Asia. But how many of them are Kindle developers. Not even sure they sell Kindles at Narita airport yet.

There are services in Japan that buy Japanese products and ship them all over the world. kakaku. pricejapan. The JPY seems to be getting cheaper.

Anyway I still think its an interesting technical question. Amazon will someday release a Chinese version of their hardware I bet. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-575...inese-readers/ Just curious if the OS can be replaced wholesale. Or if even its just a matter of adding fonts.
