150 pages of books 5 hours isn't that long for the amount of books that is! The Kindle isn't really made to be bogged down like that or that many books being added at one time. Indexing can take a very long time depending on the amount of books. Indexing will drain a battery in no time.

Leave the Kindle plugged in over night to the wall while it indexes. After that check for it to make sure it's through and nothing is stuck. You can do this by doing a search for gibberish. It will show what is left to index.

After indexing is done make sure you have a full charge then test it for a few days to see how battery life is acting.

It sounds to me there is nothing wrong with the Kindle. It's too many books being added at one time draining the battery.
