I think enTourage originally planned on 2.1 being a summer update, but then Google released 2.2. My guess is enTourage decided to abandon the 2.1 work and move on to 2.2 instead seeing as most companies were doing the same (which is why there's the delay in getting 2.2 on the eDGe - companies, including the giants like Motorola, Samsung, etc., need time to work out the upgrade and kinks in a new OS version for their devices before they can release it to their customers). Meanwhile, the eDGe is Android 1.6.
