Post Hughes, Thomas: Tom Brown's Schooldays. v1. 11 Sep 07

Thomas Hughes' classic novel, first published in 1857, telling the story of Tom Brown at Rugby School. The story is heavily influenced by the author's own experiences at Rugby, and the character of Tom Brown is based on the author's brother, George Hughes.

Tom Brown was tremendously influential on the genre of British school novels, which began in the 19th century, and is one of the few still in print. A sequel, Tom Brown at Oxford, was published in 1861 but is not as well known.

Enjoy!
