Written in 1919, Winesburg, Ohio
is the most famous book by Anderson. Known best for his short stories, it is really a collection of short stories bound around a common theme and set in the same town. One of the first modern writers in the US, he was a frequent contributor to The Dial
magazine in New York City and part of the new modern post war era.
One of the reasons I got a job back in high school was to buy books that the local libraries did not stock, The Portable Sherwood Anderson
was one of those.
