A classic story of naval adventure, originally published in 1836, telling the story of Jack Easy, a young boy who goes to sea as a Midshipman during the Napoleonic Wars. The novel is semi-autobiographical - Marryat was a Royal Navy Captain who served with distinction and took part in many battles against the French.
This, and Captain Marryat's many other books of naval adventure, were very much the inspiration for later authors such as C.S. Forrester, author of the "Hornblower" series.
