The plot of this short novel has similarities with Voltaire’s “Candide:” an oriental prince and his friends travel in order to find out the secret of happiness. However, the tone is quietly melancholic, perhaps because Johnson had recently lost his mother.
I’ve remade the LRF version and have now made this available in other formats.
