It's possible that you have a mixup between DTB and kernel or kernel mods.
Look for pt_ and cyttsp in the DTB (or just post it).

Hey, apologies for the delay Renate -- I'm overseas at the moment.
Can you spoonfeed me this? I'm only have my ereader (and a trackball mouse) with me at the moment, but found a Github tool for extracting DTB that I can run on my uncle's computer tomorrow.
Otherwise, I can run shell commands in su termux too.
