It's also frustrating that the German keyboard only has the umlauts under the special characters. But they are not special characters but used very often.
There should be different keyboard layouts for different languages, and even better if you could choose what keyboard layout you want (have a "German quertz" layout but English menu language, for example).
Guess that's not going to happen, though.
