Yates, Dornford: She Painted Her Face. V1. 6 March 2013

"She Painted Her Face" was serialised under the far better title "Counterfeit Coin", and this edition was recovered from the serial.

This is a very typical Dornford Yates adventure story, whereby two well-heeled young knights-errant sally forth to southern Austria in the inevitable Rolls-Royce. There is a wrong to be put right, an imposter to be exposed and displaced, and a beautiful young aristocrat to be restored to her heritage.

Hero Richard Exon discovers a dread dungeon, and falls down a well during a fight to the death, before winning the hand of the beautiful heiress.

The cover is my own.
