I think I have more information on this problem which might point in the direction of bad flash memory or corrupted data.

I am trying to do a full backup on linux in this manner:
1. Download the http://projects.mobileread.com/reade...upor-rescue.7z file
2. Enter recovery mode and plug usb cable.
3. Open a terminal and type:
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/sdb of=prst1.bin bs=1024
The backup stops at 945Mb with the following message:

Code:
dd: reading `/dev/sdb': Input/output error
923056+0 records in
923056+0 records out
945209344 bytes (945 MB) copied, 108.162 s, 8.7 MB/s
I tried this three times in a row with exactly the same result.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?
