It's very convenient to be able to :-)
I only got ad-hoc network to work on my nokia phones (E71 and N8) making it impossible to connect kindle and nintendo ds.
My carrier allows up to 10 simultanious devices, but that's a good thing to check for anyone else who reads this thread.
