I do it regularly before I feed scanned pdf's to my Sony Prs T1 because sometimes its tiny stomach also has similar digestion problems in landscape mode with scanned pdf's but mainly for reading bigger formats after cutting the margins.

So owners of all other 6" readers can also download and read that tiled file in landscape mode quickly and easily.

We can also do the tile-printing in freeware Adobe Reader (posters mode) or with k2pdfopt too.

I've used these values:
-w 784 -h 1135 -wrap- -ls -col 1
and have also put m (margin to ignore) to zero and increased ds (document scale factor) to 1.3.
