Those quoted prices are for the x86 version and the ARM version *with* MS Office.
A better price estimate would be the price for Windows CE which ran from $11-30.
So there is no reason why a dedicated reader or even an Office-less Tablet couldn't be price competitive with their Android equivalents.
Especially when Android's patent payments to Microsoft are factored in.
