Lafayette, Madame de: The Princess de Montpensier, v.1, 15 Feb 2008.

Translated from the French with an Introduction by Oliver C. Colt.

Marie Madeleine Pioche de la Vergne, comtesse de Lafayette, (1634-1693).
La princesse de Montpensier (1662).

An earlier short work from the author of ‘The Princess of Clèves’ (already uploaded).

Set in France at the time of the St Bartholomew’s day massacre, this is a tragic love story. In a court where women are property to be married off in political alliances, the Princess de Montpensier endeavours to reconcile the conflict between love and duty.
